How to prepare for your biopsy

Bring necessary documents

Bring your necessary documents, such as identity card (for residents) or passport (for foreigners). Please bring your admission documents and any relevant reports and images as well.

Fasting is usually not required

However, there may be a need if sedation is required. Check with our team before coming for your biopsy.

Tell us your medical history

Tell us your full medical history, especially if you are taking any blood thinning medication and if you are diabetic. Also, inform us if you have any allergies to medication, bandages or dressings.

Wear loose-fitting clothes

Please wear loose-fitting clothes and slip-on footwear. It will be best if you wear a front-button top.

Avoid wearing accessories

Avoid wearing accessories. On the day of your surgery, do not wear any jewellery. Avoid or remove nail polish. Any dentures or contact lenses will also have to be removed before surgery.

It is a day procedure

Most biopsies can be done in an outpatient setting, so you do not need to stay overnight with us. After the procedure, our doctors may recommend that you rest in our recovery room for a few hours for observation.

If you are undergoing sedation or general anaesthesia, please ask a friend or a family member to bring you home.

We are always here for you

Talk to one of our team if you have any concerns, questions or if you simply want to understand more about your procedure.
